Struggling with Test Confidence? You're Not Alone

Arianna, was a bright and determined student; however, an adult mentor told her she was a “bad test-taker” who could not succeed on the ACT. Starting with a 22 on the ACT, she knew she had to overcome self-doubt and her fear of the ACT to reach her goal.

Building Strengths, Conquering Weaknesses

While Arianna excelled in Math and Science, English and Reading were hurdles. Coming from a Spanish-speaking home, she had to work harder on English grammar, and Reading felt overwhelming. Through targeted strategies and structured practice, she steadily improved.

Performance Strategies as a Game-Changer

Her ACT class included evidence-based performance strategies, and Arianna embraced them wholeheartedly. She even led other students in breathing exercises, helping herself and her friends stay calm and focused.

Breaking Through Mental Barriers

Despite steady progress, Arianna struggled with fear and self-doubt. Miss Claire encouraged her to shift her mindset—believing she could succeed was the first step. A simple notecard reminder—“I can do this! How can I do this?”—became Arianna’s mantra, helping her push through difficult questions.

A Remarkable Score Increase & Full Scholarship

By her final test, Arianna achieved an incredible 6-point gain, scoring a 28 ACT Composite, including a 10-point jump in English. Her growth in confidence and skill secured her a full scholarship to Drexel University, where she studies Business and Finance.

Arianna transformed from a self-doubting test-taker to a fearless, driven student. Her journey proves that with the right strategies and mindset, anything is possible.
