One question we often hear is, “How can I help my student distinguish themselves from other college applicants who might look similar on paper in terms of GPA, test scores, and activities?”

The answer to that question is the College Application Essay. Your student’s essay is one of the linchpins of a good college application.

RTC can help your student create a unique essay that reflects their authentic voice. Our college application essay tutors bring years of teaching experience and a passion for writing to their tutoring. As one of our Writing tutors often says, “Anyone can learn to become a good writer.”

We can assist with both the Common Application Essay as well as any school-specific supplemental essays your student may need to write; if you would like your student’s tutor to teach writing skills along the way, they would be happy to!

Your student can come to their tutor at any stage of the writing process, and then return to their tutor throughout the writing process, until they are happy with their final product. We can assist your student with all aspects of the writing process, from wherever they are starting: idea generation, outlining, drafting, revising, editing, and proofreading.  

Many students come to their writing tutor with basic ideas, together they have a brainstorming and outlining session, and then the student writes a draft independently. Later, the student returns to the tutor to work on revisions. Some students need more help with the writing process than others.  We’ve even had students come to us with completed drafts that only need a writing editor’s eye.

At RTC, we believe every student benefits the most from customized tutoring; we don’t offer a College Application Tutoring “package.” Instead, we will provide your student with exactly as much writing tutoring time as they need to craft a winning essay – one that differentiates them from other applicants and helps their college application shine.
